Photos of Lee County, South Carolina, which is ranked by the New York Times among the fifty hardest places to live in America.
Lee County is home to Pearl Fryar, a topiary artist. The Pearl Fryar topiary park flows through a vacant lot and surrounds Fryar’s house. His Seussical creations grace corners and window boxes throughout Bishopville, the county seat. Seen here in December, one can only imagine the color and life that Fryar’s garden is filled with during the spring.
